#6 CU achieves highest rank ever

SKILLMAN, New Jersey (November 6) – The good news just keeps coming for the Cameron Aggie men’s tennis team. After winning 7 of the 9 championships at last month’s Lone Star Conference Championship tournament, the Aggies this week achieved the highest ranking in school history. In the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings of the 2009 spring season the Aggie men were ranked #6 in the country.

Aggies-Sooners game time set

LAWTON, Oklahoma (November 3) – The Cameron Aggie men’s basketball team and first-year head coach Wade Alexander kick off their 2008-2009 season this weekend with an exhibition contest against the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman, Oklahoma. The game’s start time was set this morning at 12:00pm so as not to conflict with the Oklahoma-Texas A&M football game taking place at 2:30pm in College Station, Texas. Saturday’s CU-OU basketball game will not count for either team, but will be an exciting way to begin the Wade Alexander regime at Cameron.

LAWTON, Oklahoma (November 6) – Season tickets for the 2008-2009 Cameron Aggie men’s and women’s basketball season are now on sale! For just $80 a seat Aggie fans can enjoy 16 home dates and 27 home games in the recently renovated Aggie Gym. With that many home dates against opponents such as Central Oklahoma, Midwestern State, Newman, and Dallas Baptist, the Aggies appear to have an extensive and exciting 2008-2009 season in store.

Aggies sweep Lions, but playoffs out

COMMERCE, Texas (November 6) – It was a night of highs and lows for the Cameron Aggie volleyball team (14-12, 5-7 LSC) who tonight swept the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions (15-10, 7-5 LSC) 3-0 on the road in Commerce, Texas. Cameron outplayed their foes in nearly every aspect of the match and won 25-11, 26-24, 25-20. With one match left, CU secured an above-.500 final record but unfortunately was eliminated from postseason contention.

Aggies fall to ‘Belles on Senior Day

LAWTON, Oklahoma (November 1) – In their final home match of the season the Cameron Aggie volleyball team (13-12, 4-7 LSC) fell to the Angelo State Rambelles (18-13, 6-5 LSC) in a very competitive match. ASU defeated CU 3-1, and the sets were scored 18-25, 23-25, 25-22, 16-25. Today’s loss just about eliminates the Aggies from postseason contention, but depending on how the rest of the Lone Star Conference matches go this afternoon CU still may have a chance. The Aggies have two matches remaining this season.

LAWTON, Oklahoma (October 30) – Clinching a postseason berth got a bit tougher for the Cameron Aggie volleyball team (13-11, 4-6 LSC) after they lost tonight’s match against the Abilene Christian Wildcats (20-8, 6-4 LSC). ACU swept CU 3-0, and the sets were scored 25-23, 25-19, 25-19. With three matches left in the regular season, the Aggies are trailing Central Oklahoma and Southeastern Oklahoma State for the final playoff spot.

CU makes quick work of OPSU

LAWTON, Oklahoma (October 28) – For the second time this season the Cameron Aggies (13-10, 4-5 LSC) made quick work of the Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggies (5-21, 1-9 Heartland) with a 3-0 sweep. Tonight’s match was scored 25-14, 25-15, 25-22, and lasted a little over an hour. CU was in control of the match throughout and now has just four matches left on the season.

CU falls to #3 WTAMU

CANYON, Texas (October 25) – Despite a valiant effort, the Cameron Aggie volleyball team (12-10, 4-5 LSC) lost today to the nationally-ranked #3 West Texas A&M Lady Buffs (24-4, 8-0 LSC). Cameron lost this afternoon’s road match 3-1 in ninety minutes. The match was very competitive and was scored 10-25, 25-21, 11-25, 18-25. CU’s loss ended their two-match win streak and leaves them with just five matches on the 2008 regular season.

Aggies sweep Zias out west

PORTALES, New Mexico (October 23) – With a 3-0 sweep of the Eastern New Mexico Zias (6-22, 0-7 LSC) tonight in Portales, New Mexico, the Cameron Aggies (12-9, 4-4 LSC) won consecutive matches for the first time since late September. This evening’s match was scored 25-14, 25-23, 25-16, and lasted just over an hour. CU’s victory puts them in a tie at 7th place with Abilene Christian and Angelo State in the Lone Star Conference standings.

Aggies host OIW, tie for 8th

DUNCAN, Oklahoma (October 21) – Although it wasn’t the finish the Aggie women’s golf team was hoping for, the team did a tremendous job as hosts of the annual Oklahoma Intercollegiate for Women golf tournament at The Territory Golf Club (Duncan, Oklahoma). CU took home an 8th place finish and an overall team score of 651 (323-328). Beautiful weather, stiff competition, and elite golf facilities provided for a great tournament.
