Aggies lose close to ‘Wolves

PUEBLO, Colorado (November 22) – A valiant second-half effort by the Cameron Aggie women (2-2, 0-0 LSC North) was not enough tonight against the Colorado State-Pueblo ThunderWolves (2-1, 0-0 RMAC). CSU-P defeated CU 56-48 in the final women’s basketball game of the Al Kaly Shrine Classic tournament hosted by the ThunderWolves. Cameron went 1-1 in the event and falls back to .500 on the season.

Aggies defeat Cowgirls by ten

PUEBLO, Colorado (November 21) – Cameron’s women’s basketball team (2-1, 0-0 LSC North) won the first game of the Al Kaly Shrine Classic tournament today in Pueblo, Colorado. The event was hosted by Colorado State University-Pueblo and pitted the Aggies against the New Mexico Highlands University Cowgirls (0-2, 0-0 RMAC) in the opening game. CU defeated NMHU 77-67 in a very competitive game for the team’s second win of the season.

CU routs OPSU to start 2-0

LAWTON, Oklahoma (November 19) – Tonight’s men’s basketball game between the Aggies of Cameron (2-0, 0-0 LSC North) and the Aggies of Oklahoma Panhandle State (0-2, 0-0 Heartland) wasn’t close at all as CU routed OPSU, 79-59. Cameron was in control throughout and held the lead for 39:51 of the 40 minutes in tonight’s game. CU is still undefeated on the season and has outscored their two opponents by an average of 21.5 points this year.

Cameron University Students Create Telenovela

(Lawton, OK) Cameron University's Department of Communication is pleased to announce its first Spanish Language program, "Telenovela: Pasion Universitaria" for the student run television station. This television show on the CUTV station is the story of a couple from Puerto Rico (Fernando and Maria Isabel) who move to the state of Oklahoma to pursue a degree in medicine. The TV show was created by Cameron University Radio/Television students. The executive producer is Dr. Matt Jenkins. The producer is Cecilio Ramirez. Student director is Kyle Luetters. Actors in the staring roles are Jenyann Roig as Maria Isabel and Cecilio Ramirez as Fernando.

Aggies announce HOF Class of 2009

LAWTON, Oklahoma (November 17) – Announced tonight were six more deserving individuals who will enter the Cameron University Athletics Hall of Fame this February as the Class of 2009. The announcement came at a Cameron Gold Club social event hosted by the Cameron Athletic Department at the Best Western Hotel and Convention Center. The Class of 2009 will be formally inducted on February 20, 2009 at the annual Hall of Fame banquet.

Aggie women lose OT battle

DENTON, Texas (November 16) – The Cameron Aggie women’s basketball team (1-1, 0-0 LSC North) finished play at the Texas Woman’s Pioneer Premiere today with a 71-62 overtime loss to the Western State College (Gunnison, Colorado) Mountaineers (1-1, 0-0 RMAC). The Aggies went 1-1 in the season-opening tournament and played extremely competitive basketball against tough opponents.

Taylor’s clutch play gives CU victory

DENTON, Texas (November 15) – The Tom Webb era of Cameron Aggie women’s basketball began perfectly tonight, thanks in large part to the clutch performance of senior guard Kristi Taylor. Cameron’s lone senior hit not one, not two, but five key baskets to give the Aggies (1-0, 0-0 LSC North) the 77-76 win over the Truman State Bulldogs (0-1, 0-0 MIAA) in double overtime. CU is currently taking part in the Texas Woman’s University Pioneer Premiere tournament in Denton, Texas.

Glasgow leads CU to big win

LAWTON, Oklahoma (November 15) – For the moment, Cameron head men’s basketball coach Wade Alexander is the winningest coach in school history. Coach Alexander and the Aggie men (1-0, 0-0 LSC North) stuck it to the Saints of Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College (0-5, 0-0 ACCA) tonight in the first game of Coach Alexander’s head coaching career. CU defeated their opponents 73-50 and was in control throughout the game.

It's Time to Winterize Your Home and Rent Properties

Last time we went over winter weather emergecy preparedness. Now it's time to think about the basics of "winterizing" your home, and if you have rent properties or a house that you are responsible for, those also. This latter has been on something on our minds because of an elderly relative that's no longer staying in her house, but may return to it and so it needs to be maintained.

In Southwest Oklahoma, and of course that means North Texas too, our winters are generally milder and short lived. To give you an idea, at the Clarks, and many other households I know, the heat was just turned on this week -- mid-November. Still, you can't rule out that occassional ice storm, like we had last winter.

Aggies run to 15th at Regionals

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (November 8) – The 2008 cross country season came to an end today for the Cameron Aggies as they finished in 15th place at the NCAA Regional Championship. The meet featured 22 elite running teams from the South Central Region, and was hosted by the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. Cameron’s finish this year is two spots better than their 2007 performance.

Aggies end season above .500

DENTON, Texas (November 8) – With no playoffs in sight, the Cameron Aggie volleyball team (14-13, 5-8 LSC) ended their season today with a 3-0 loss to the Texas Woman’s Pioneers (19-12, 8-5 LSC) in Denton, Texas. CU and TWU battled back and forth in a very competitive match, but the Pioneers won 25-20, 25-21, 25-15. The Aggies now enter the off-season portion of their schedule.

Aggie women to start year at #30

SKILLMAN, New Jersey (November 7) – The 2009 spring season should be another impressive one for the Cameron Aggie women’s tennis team. This week the squad was ranked #30 in the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings of the season. Regionally CU is ranked #6 in the NCAA South Central Region, but has the talent to move much higher in the rankings.

SKILLMAN, New Jersey (November 6) – The good news just keeps coming for the Cameron Aggie men’s tennis team. After winning 7 of the 9 championships at last month’s Lone Star Conference Championship tournament, the Aggies this week achieved the highest ranking in school history. In the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings of the 2009 spring season the Aggie men were ranked #6 in the country.

Aggies-Sooners game time set

LAWTON, Oklahoma (November 3) – The Cameron Aggie men’s basketball team and first-year head coach Wade Alexander kick off their 2008-2009 season this weekend with an exhibition contest against the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman, Oklahoma. The game’s start time was set this morning at 12:00pm so as not to conflict with the Oklahoma-Texas A&M football game taking place at 2:30pm in College Station, Texas. Saturday’s CU-OU basketball game will not count for either team, but will be an exciting way to begin the Wade Alexander regime at Cameron.

LAWTON, Oklahoma (November 6) – Season tickets for the 2008-2009 Cameron Aggie men’s and women’s basketball season are now on sale! For just $80 a seat Aggie fans can enjoy 16 home dates and 27 home games in the recently renovated Aggie Gym. With that many home dates against opponents such as Central Oklahoma, Midwestern State, Newman, and Dallas Baptist, the Aggies appear to have an extensive and exciting 2008-2009 season in store.

Aggies sweep Lions, but playoffs out

COMMERCE, Texas (November 6) – It was a night of highs and lows for the Cameron Aggie volleyball team (14-12, 5-7 LSC) who tonight swept the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions (15-10, 7-5 LSC) 3-0 on the road in Commerce, Texas. Cameron outplayed their foes in nearly every aspect of the match and won 25-11, 26-24, 25-20. With one match left, CU secured an above-.500 final record but unfortunately was eliminated from postseason contention.

Aggies fall to ‘Belles on Senior Day

LAWTON, Oklahoma (November 1) – In their final home match of the season the Cameron Aggie volleyball team (13-12, 4-7 LSC) fell to the Angelo State Rambelles (18-13, 6-5 LSC) in a very competitive match. ASU defeated CU 3-1, and the sets were scored 18-25, 23-25, 25-22, 16-25. Today’s loss just about eliminates the Aggies from postseason contention, but depending on how the rest of the Lone Star Conference matches go this afternoon CU still may have a chance. The Aggies have two matches remaining this season.

LAWTON, Oklahoma (October 30) – Clinching a postseason berth got a bit tougher for the Cameron Aggie volleyball team (13-11, 4-6 LSC) after they lost tonight’s match against the Abilene Christian Wildcats (20-8, 6-4 LSC). ACU swept CU 3-0, and the sets were scored 25-23, 25-19, 25-19. With three matches left in the regular season, the Aggies are trailing Central Oklahoma and Southeastern Oklahoma State for the final playoff spot.
