Aggies finalize basketball assistants

LAWTON, Oklahoma (August 26) – The Cameron Athletic Department announced this week that it has finalized the two full-time basketball assistant coaching positions for the upcoming 2008-2009 season. In the women’s basketball program Steve Lowe has been hired as head coach Tom Webb’s assistant, while in men’s basketball Nate Gamet has been added as head coach Wade Alexander’s assistant. Lowe and Gamet replace Andrew Belsky and Ryan McAdams, respectively.

Aggies lose gifted runner in accident

HUMPHREY, Nebraska (August 12) – The Cameron Athletic Department is saddened to confirm reports that gifted cross country runner Julius Kosgei was killed in a two-vehicle accident last week outside of Columbus, Nebraska. Kosgei was a 31-year old junior originally from El Doret, Kenya. His 27-year old cousin was also killed in the accident. Kosgei had been working this summer at a church camp in Nebraska, and was on his way back to Oklahoma with his cousin when the accident occurred.

TOM NODDY, THE BUBBLE GUY

Love bubbles, smoke bubbles, cube bubbles and bubbles inside of bubbles are some of the mysterious creations Tom Noddy will present to visitors August 23 & 24 at the Museum of the Great Plains.

Noddy’s Bubble Magic has been presented on television shows worldwide since the 1980s. He has appeared numerous times on primetime, daytime and late night television, as well as at nightclubs and universities. He also has been the featured performer for science and math festivals, attracting up to 17,000 people in a single weekend.

29th Annual International Festival Headliners

(Lawton, OK) The 2008 International Festival in Lawton, OK will be held September 26, 27, and 28 (Friday, 5-10 pm, Saturday, 11 am-10 pm, and Sunday, 12-5 pm).

It continues to celebrate and highlight our area’s diverse cultures. The festival is a project of the Lawton Arts and Humanities Council’s International Festival Committee and the City of Lawton.

3rd Annual Mystery Art Fest

The Kemp Center for the Arts is looking for artists to participate in their 3rd Annual Mystery Art Fest which will be held on October 10, 2009. This event will feature an exhibit of 8 x 10 pieces of art created and donated by local and regional artists and sold by silent auction. Sales of the art benefit the Kemp Center for the Arts.

Red Dirt in Oklahoma, It's Enough to Make You Crack Up

If you live in Southwest Oklahoma, you've seen it. As an appraiser I've seen it quite often and up close: Brick homes with lengthy cracks between bricks, giving the look of stair-steps.

Such stair-step cracks on exterior walls often are accompanied by severe cracks in patios and driveways.

When I see that on the outside, I'm not surprised to find it inside as well, showing up as interior wall cracks or even separation between a wall and ceiling.
