Durant, Oklahoma (March 6)- The Aggie Softball team (6-14) split today with Southeastern Oklahoma State University (11-9). The Aggies lost the first game 4-13, but bounced back to defeat the Savages 8-0 in the second game. The Aggies also split games with Southeastern on Sunday March 3 when they played the Southeastern Savages at home. The Aggies won the first game on Sunday 4-3, however, lost the second game 6-1.On Sunday March 3 the Aggies started off playing strong. The Aggies offense was all-powerful with 10 hits of the game. Second baseman Megan Young’s 3 hits out of 4 at bat and 2 RBIs helped the Aggies outlast the Savages. Young started the game with a double to left field helping the Aggies take an early lead in the first 1-0.

In the 3rd and 4th inning Southeastern tried to take control from the Aggies. Southeastern’s short stop Lesley Boyd doubled to right field, allowing two runners to score. Then in the fourth inning, Durant’s designated hitter Bailey Mathes doubled to left field, helping set up the opportunity for another run. At the top of the fourth, Durant had the lead 1-3.

Cameron slowly edged their way back into control with crucial hits. In the bottom of the fourth, the Aggie’s catcher Callie Schlatter hit a home run to boost the spirits of the Aggies. With this hit, the Aggies only trailed by one, so it was anybodies ball game.

Cameron took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, when the Aggies showed off their hitting ability. The first three Aggies up to bat hit singles which lead the Aggies to tying the ball game 3-3.

It all came down to the seventh and final inning where Megan Young finished what she began. Megan doubled to right field, allowing the winning run to score.

The second game on Sunday did not end with good results for the Aggies. After the first inning the game was tied 1-1. Southeastern, from there on out, took control of the game and lead the rest of the way. The Aggies still had hopes of winning the game until the sixth inning rolled about. Southeastern’s Lesley Boyd hit a home run that plated 3 runners. This gave the Salvages the win with the final score being 6-1.

The Aggies traveled to Durant, Oklahoma today (March 6) to challenge Southeastern once again. This time Southeastern won the first game and Cameron got to leave the Salvages with a win in the second game.

The first game came and went too fast for the Aggies. Cameron started solid with left fielder Whitney Richardson single scoring two runs. However, in the bottom of the second inning, Southeastern Oklahoma State got into a rhythm with the help of their pitcher Rachel Sill hitting a home run. At the end of the second, The Salvages was up 4-2.

Aggies tried to rally back in the 4th and 5th inning, however, Southeastern Oklahoma State gave them no chance to win after 8 runs was scored in the bottom of the fifth. This wrapped up the game for the Savages with the score 4-13.

The Aggies came back with a fight for the 2nd and final game of the day.The Aggies offense stepped up behind the stellar pitching performance by Sherry Tetreault in the second game allowing no runs on only 3 hits. The bats came to life in the second game producing runs in all innings but the fifth.

The Aggies really got things going in the second inning when Sammi Adams showed her power with a home run and the rest of the Aggies followed suite. Cameron continued to score with two runs in the third, and adding the final touches to the game in the fourth with another Aggies home run this time by Whitney Richardson to seal the deal for the Aggies win over the Savages 8-0.
