StoryCorps Is Coming to Town Did your grandparents or parents ever tell something about when they were growing up, and you thought, "That should be preserved"? Cameron University's KCCU-FM radio station can help you with that. StoryCorps is a recording studio on wheels that's coming to Lawton, and its crew is looking for people with family and community histories to tell. Sponsored by National Public Radio, KCCU is bringing the StoryCorps bus here later this month. On Thursday Oct. 12, KCCU will begin taking reservations for people to record. Call toll free, 800-850-4406, to set up 40 minutes in the studio for you and a family member or friend. They like for two to record together so you can help each other out memory details and make it more conversational. Once your recording is made, you get a CD copy, and with your permission, it will become part of the 250,000 oral histories being collected over a ten-year period that started in 2005 by StoryCorps. It will then become part of the archives in the Library of Congress and Carnegie Library. Also, your story will be heard on NPR stations across the country. Tune in to KCCU to hear StoryCorps interviews on Fridays during its Morning Edition program at 89.3 or 102.9 on the dial.
