Good News on the Home Front in Lawton

Well, I hope you heard the good news about housing in Lawton.

A government report earlier this month stated that while the housing industry has a crisis going on nationally, Oklahoma and notably Lawton, are an oasis for the industry.

That says good things about local homeowners and buyers, those doing the financing, realtors, and, dare I say it, maybe even an appraiser got it right.

It also says, new folks are moving into town.

Of course, the people who live in Lawton didn't need a government report to tell us that. There's new housing additions in every direction; brand new apartment complexes (and some big ones); and even older houses in established neighborhoods are getting all-new makeovers.

And if that's not enough to convince you, just look on Cache Road at that sign in front of one new construction – "Olive Garden." Either Hades is freezing over, or Lawton is definitely booming. Over the years, rumors of an Olive Garden had reached the level of Big Foot sightings.

Oh, it's not perfect. There are still some gaps and needs to be met. But, the American Dream of home ownership, much like the patriotism in the hearts of its citizens, is alive and well in Lawton.

Like the song says, "You're doing fine Oklahoma..." and in your Centennial year, no less.
